Well this is rather embarrassing: the cheap car that put German engineering on the map defeating a monster from the present who can call upon all the latest technology.
The Golf I is a good car, but by no means was it ever a supercar. So can a hatchback from grandpa’s time take on the C63 AMG? It’s simple: this Golf isn’t stock. It’s probably powered by a turbocharged or supercharged version of the VR6 engine and puts out at least 600 hp judging from its perforamcne.
The C63 might have two more cylinders on its 6.3-liter V8 and about twice the displacement, but it is still a luxury vehicle on the inside while the Golf has been bread into a drag racing machine.
This clip was filmed recently in Germany at *1/4 Mile Viertelmeile Acceleration Beschleunigung Rennen,. It a good hint at what the local scene is doing right now.
