Drag Race Between BMW M4, Nissan GT-R and Lexus RC-F Is Not Close

We don't know why, but Top Gear's drag races have been getting very weird. After showing us that a McLaren supercar is faster than a 911 GT3, which everyone already knew, today they prove the Nissan GT-R is good at drag racing.

Hello? Ever since the GT-R was launched all those years ago, it's been doing nothing but drag racing, humiliating supercars from Ferrari, Lamborghini, and other brands. The BMW M4 is fast, but not that fast, which is more than we can say about the Lexus RC F.

Let's re-examine the competitors, shall we? The GT-R has been available with the track pack ever since 2012 in the UK. The cars fitted with the Track Pack are £10,000 dearer than the standard version. The engine is left unchanged at 550 horsepower, but you do get some lighter alloy wheels, and the two back seats are supposed to be removed. However, this one has them, which is probably something the owner has done.

The BMW has the smallest and least powerful engine of the race, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo mill capable of delivering 431 hp to the back axle. It's notorious for being tricky to get off the line, which is why the heavy but pure Lexus pulls away at first. Under the hood of the RC F is a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter engine. The V8 puts down 467 hp, which is a decent number. However, most of the compromises it makes are for the sake of "beauty."

So which one would we buy with money? Well, the only time the M4 is fun is when it's drifting. The Lexus is cool but never relevant. So we'd actually pick the GT-R. Not this one, though, as there's a new 2017 model that has a much better interior with fewer buttons and better leather trim, plus a bold front bumper and tuned active exhaust. If somebody ever says their German coupe is better, you can just humiliate them in a race and move on with your life.
