Dr. Dre’s Beats Deal That Impacts the Auto Industry is Not About the Sound

The announcement that Apple bought Beats Electronics, the company founded by music producer Jimmy Iovine and famous rapper Dr. Dre, was made by American Grammy nominated R&B singer-songwriter Tyrese. A close friend of Dre, Tyrese Darnell Gibson posted a picture on his Instagram Account while celebrating the deal.

“Tonight Hip Hop changed forever and I was there to pay my respects!”, Tyrese wrote that night. Considering that the company is producing the car sound systems for Chrysler and is planning to develop further to Fiat and Dodge cars, we wrote that the deal will definitely impact the car industry as well.

Anyway, since the deal was made public, the entire world is waiting for a reason why Apple would pay that amount of money. Well, you happy Chrysler 300 owners, it’s not about the sound. It is, allegedly about the video.

Steve Jobs’ biographer Walter Issacson has his own theory on why Apple bought Beats. Long story short, it’s about giving an update to Apple TV, a plan that the company had for some years now. According to Cultofmac, Iovine’s connection to media industry make him one of the few people capable of getting the biggest names in the business to come together.

Steve Jobs’ biographer expressed his opinion while speaking to Dan Lyons at Billboard. He said that back in 2003, after playing a key role in persuading the top five music labels to hop on the iTunes train, Jimmy Iovine told Steve Jobs that they should purchase Universal Music Group. It never happened.

We’ll just have to wait for the official announcement to know if we are still choosing the car for its speakers... or its screen
