According to MCN, 12-times trial world champion Lampkin has recently undergone a successful private test at Cadwell Park. It took three hours, and he used a modified bike for the purpose.

“I’ve been with Red Bull for over 15 years now and – more so after my world championship days – we’ve been asked for things we’ve wanted to do,” Dougie told the publication. “Everyone remembers when they first got a pushbike, or if you were lucky enough to get a motorbike, everyone wants to do wheelies.”

The big event will take place September 25 on the Isle of Man TT course since Dougie has lived on the island for nine years. He’ll only have one chance at beating the record, having to ride on one wheel the whole 37-mile (59.5 km) course.

Dougie will be using a modified Vertigo Ice Hell 300 trial bike, powered by a two-stroke 300 cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine which he’ll have to keep at a constant speed of between 19 and 21 mph (30-34 km/h) in fifth and sixth gear.

“It’s quite difficult to explain just how tough it is,” Dougie said in a previous teaser video. “I basic need to turn the rules of a trials bike upside down. I have to learn a new sport.”

And if you think that’s hard, he will be following another car that will be filming the entire event and the traffic on the opposite lane won’t be closed, adding more variables to the attempt.

Fans and motorsport addicts will be able to see the whole event as it will be broadcasted live on Redbull.tv on September 25.
