The Russian dash cam culture has taught us that, on most occasions when a sportscar and a... not-that-fast vehicle are involved in a hit and run incident that doesn't involve people getting hurt, the velocity machine is the victim of the crash.
Well, the piece of footage at the bottom of the page brings the opposite situation, with an Audi R8 crashing into the "camera car" (while we can't see the details of the vehicle, it's obvious we're dealing with a less-than-special ride) and making a run for it.
We can see the R8 overtaking mid-corner and, with a coach coming the other way, the driver of the sportscar rushed to get back into his lane, this sideswiping the vehicle capturing the footage. Despite the impact, which caused a few bits and pieces to fly around, the R8 driver carried on as if nothing had happened, disappearing around the corner in a few seconds, just as the car he had hit pulled over.
Judging by the fact that the dash cam shows the "victim" vehicle was driving at just over 30 mph (52 km/h) when it was hit, the R8 guy's lack of driving abilities is simply stunning, which could lead to various explanations for the reason he decided to fled the scene.
Now, notice that we didn't mention "supercar" in this story, simply because the R8 driver has chosen the easiest way to make other people believe he drives such a beast.
To be more precise, we're dealing with a first-generation Audi R8 V8, which has been given a fresh appearance with the help of a wrap. If we are to talk financial details, we'll mention the following: with brand new supercars starting around the, say, 150 grand mark (regardless of the EUR or USD currency), R8 V8s such as the one seen here can be had starting from EUR50,000 or USD70,000.
