Dongfeng Nissan Venucia Brand is Born

The local Chinese alliance between Japanese manufacturer Nissan and Dongfeng announced yesterday the creation of a new brand for the local market. Dubbed Venucia, or Qi Chen in China, the new brand will be introduced to the Chinese market in 2012.

There are no details available on the project yet, apart from the fact that Venucia will become the second passenger car brand to be sold by Dongfeng alongside Nissan vehicles. By the time it will be launched, an army of people will work to establish the infrastructure needed for the brand to grow, including design, research and development, manufacturing, marketing and sales network.

"In the future, we aim to sell more than one million vehicles annually and the new brand will play an important role by offering practical models with class-leading quality," said Fumiaki Matsumoto, managing director of Dongfeng Nissan.

Before getting into details regarding the models to be sold under the Venucia brand, Nissan thought it is best to give us a short intro into what the brand name and logo stand for. According to the Japanese manufacturer, the Venucia has been inspired by the name of Venus, the Roman God.

The brand logo, a rounded badge with five different stars on it, are supposed to represent the promises made by the two carmakers when the brand was set up. Those promises are “respect customers, create value, do the best, achieve world-class quality, and seek the dream.“

What dream are the two seeking is not clear, but we bet is has something to do with snatching more of that Chinese piece of automotive industry pie.
