Late last year, Lamborghini revealed to the world it had decided to instill the Squadra Corse soul into something not as track exclusive as the Essenza SCV12. More specifically, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO and GT3 EVO racers transferred parts of their DNA into the new Huracán STO—a.k.a. the Super Trofeo Omologata.
Naturally, one will have to pay a chunk load of money to get to play with the real deal—some €249,412 in Europe and $327,838 in the U.S. On the other hand, if you’re willing to forgive the virtual reality excesses, one can also spend a lot less and hoon the bejesus out of the STO in the Rocket League video game.
Yes, you read that correctly, Lamborghini has joined Ford’s 2021 F-150 in the award-winning “multi-platform video game that (combines) two of the most popular passions: sports cars and soccer.” Psyonix and the Sant'Agata Bolognese manufacturer have brought the latest V10 Lambo into the Rocket League world, though it’s just for a limited time.
Basically, players have until April 27 to snatch the virtual version of the STO (and its associated bundle) as the companies have announced the 3-second to 62 mph (100 kph) supercar (also with a top speed of 193 mph/310 kph) will “compete in the Battle of the Bulls during the Rocket League Championship Series X Lamborghini Open.”
Purchasing the package will net players the STO in Blu Laufey and Arancio California (different liveries are also available), along with two sets of rims, a bespoke decal, the Huracán STO player banner, and a couple of antennas.
As for the Battle of the Bulls itself, it’s a five-match series taking place between April 23 and 25 where the best Rocket League players give everything they have in one-on-one matches, with each winner awarded a prize of $5,000 while the fans watch the action live on Twitch.
