Dodge Viper Crashes on the Highway While Trying to Show Off

If the Dodge Viper were a character we get to see on TV, it would have to be Dexter, the world's favorite serial killer. The current generation learned how to channel its urge to send the driver to hell. Heck, it even comes with a chassis setup that doesn't rest on the laurels of the newly-introduced electronic nannies.

However, things were pretty different with the past two generations, which easily fight cars such as the Lamborghini Diablo for the title of the ultimate modern-day widowmaker. Nevertheless, since the V12 Sant'Agata Bolognese machine is in a different financial league, we get to see the American side of the deal more often.

The latest example of this comes from the Dodge in the video below. We're dealing with a pre-revamp, second-generation Viper here, even though SRT aficionados would call this a Gen 3 Viper. OK, we'll settle for Dodge Viper SRT-10.

The driver of the supercar found himself on the freeway and noticed he was being flooded with attention. The man took advantage of his manual gearbox, putting the thing in neutral (at least we hope he didn't just step on the clutch) and revving the hell out of that 8.3-liter V10.

His next move was supposed to see him flying away into the horizon, but his car had other plans. As soon as the driver engaged a gear and asked the 500 horses to do their job, the Viper went sideways in what appears to be the kind of slide that doesn't go too well with control attempts on the driver's side.

The supercar ended up hitting the protection element on the side of the highway, even though the impact hasn't been caught on camera. Hopefully, the driver didn't end up on Dexter's table.

However, with the internet being what it is, those commenting on YouTube were perhaps more troubled by the fact that the footage had been filmed vertically.
