Dodge to Offer a Supercharger for the Charger and Challenger SRT8

It hasn’t been to long since Dodge gathered its horsepower troops under the SRT brand and the company seems to be determined to tear up the road with this new development. The automotive producer is working to offer an optional supercharger for the Charger and Challenger SRT8, as Motor Authority writes.

You’ll be able to order the forced induction toy for the 6.4-liter HEMI V8, which means that we’ll certainly be in for a lot of fun. Why? It’s simple: in its current form, which uses natural aspiration, the powerplant delivers 477 hp and a peak torque of 470 lb-ft (637 Nm).

The supercharger kit will raise the maximum power to about 548-578 hp, a value that will bring the performance of these two muscle cars into the stratosphere. Of course, we don't have exact figures yet, but it's easy to immagine how impressive they will be.

And this is not all, as Dodge is planning even more new goodies for the cars. So, in addition to boosting the power, the vehicles will also receive eight-speed transmissions, which should improve both performance and efficiency.

What can we say? The aforementioned vehicles were already a perfect definition of the “tower of power”, one of the automotive world’s sweetest word associations, but it seems that this wan’t enough.

We have to admit that we are just as eager as you to see exactly what Dodge is cooking and hope that this will be another win for the high-horsepower creatures that make our life so much sweeter.
