Dodge Gears Up for 2010 Season, First Nationwide Corporate Presence Since 2001

With the official debut of the 2010 NASCAR season only weeks away, the Motorsports division of American manufacturer Dodge announced its objectives for the future season, without aiming high. According to Ralph Gilles, Dodge CEO, the main objectives, as far as the Sprint Cup goes, at least, "win races, have drivers in The Chase and compete for the 2010 Sprint Cup Series championship." Dodge is entering its second decade since it returned to NASCAR' premier series. Since 2001, Dodge teams managed to score 45 wins in the Sprint Cup, including during the iconic season opener Daytona. “Motorsports is a significant part of Dodge’s legacy,” added Gilles. “NASCAR’s audience is an enthusiast’s audience and provides Dodge a platform to showcase the power and performance of the Dodge brand to our target customers where they live and play.” Dodge will have three entries in the 2010 Sprint Cup series, fielded by Penske Racing. The teams are the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger (Kurt Busch), No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, (Sam Hornish Jr.) and No. 12 Dodge Charger (Brad Keselowski). In Nationwide, Dodges will be raced by 2009 Rookie of the Year Justin Allgaier (No. 12 Verizon Wireless Dodge Charger) and four-time Nationwide Series event winner Brad Keselowski (No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Charger). This will be the first corporate-level Dodge involvement in Nationwide since 2001.
“We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Penske Racing into the NASCAR Nationwide Series,” Gilles concluded. “Our commitment to the Nationwide Series will continue to heighten awareness of our performance-driven Dodge brands while delivering excitement to our loyal Dodge enthusiasts.”
