There are plenty of speeding fans who believe drag racing is all about the numbers of one's car. Then again, straight-line battles involve a host of other factors and a driver needs to display the kind of discipline required by martial arts. And the freshest example of this comes from a drag race that threw two extremely muscle cars at each other. We're referring to a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and a 1971 Chevrolet Camaro.
The slabs of America fortunately got together at the drag strip, thus keeping things on the safe side and enjoying the prepped surface of the track.
The Demon we have here comes in factory form, albeit packing the goodies from the Demon crate, which means it delivers 840 hp (yes, the vehicle runs on race gas), while packing skinny front tires for low rolling resistance.
Then again, we can't say the same about the retro Camaro. The slab of GM has been given a thorough transformation, with the thing now playing the role of a racecar.
For instance, the Chevy is animated by a 383, with the V8 sipping on nitrous - this little detail made quite a difference during the race, as you'll get to see in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page. The thing also comes with a ten-point roll cage, among others.
Those of you who are in a hurry should know that the sprinting battle mentioned above awaits them at the 5:00 point of the video. Even so, the rest of the clip is also worthy of your attention, since you'll get to check out the Demon duking it out with an extremely peculiar breed.
