This is an awesome time to be a muscle car aficionado, with Detroit's Big Three delivering the kind of muscle cars that might just be even spicier than the machines which kickstarted the genre. Then again, old school muscle cars can't be ignored and we're here to help keep these slabs of America under the spotlights. And what better way to do that if not with the help of a battle between a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner?
Fortunately, the Mopar machines we have here got together at the drag strip, so they kept things on the safe side while also taking advantage of the prepped surface.
The Demon that brought us here comes in factory form, albeit using the goodies from the Demon crate. As such, this Dodge delivers 840 ponies and packs skinny front tires.
However, the story of the 69 Road Runner is entirely different. The machine is animated by a 440, with the V8 sipping on nitrous. Now, as you'll notice in the piece of footage documenting the fight between the two, the young owner of the classic muscle car plays the "nothing special" card after the race.
It's worth mentioning that the beasts duked it out on two separate occasions. The first battle saw the Road Runner steering clear of its special juice. Nevertheless, the Plymouth did make use of its nitrous on the second run.
As with many builds of the sort, the machine is currently in the work in progress state, but this doesn't mean it has to stay locked inside a garage.
And while we're talking modded muscle cars, we'll remind you that there are already a few four-digit Demons out there. In fact, we recently talked about such a machine, with the thing being engaged in the race for the 8s quarter-mile.
