Dodge Dart Production Starts

The first Dodge Dart rolled off the production line in the Belvidere Assembly plant in Illinois, the same factory which has been making the Jeep Patriot since 2006.
If it weren’t for the Fiat-designed Dart, the plant would have probably been shut down. The Dart is also by far the most promising car to roll off its production lines, following in the footsteps of the Dodge Caliber, Jeep Patriot and Compass, but also older and more performance-oriented Chrysler-group cars, such as the Shelby GLHS, Neon ACR and Dodge SRT4. We also hope to see a ‘hot’ version of the Dart, as we’re expecting it to look quite good with its already good design and balanced proportions and the addition of sporty touches like lowered bumpers, side skirts and larger rims, all complimented by a bigger engine (probably a 2.4-liter unit).

We expect the Dodge Dart will be the commercial success it deserves to be, and hopefully, most versions bought will use the 1.4-liter turbo Fiat-sourced engine as it’s by far the pick of the current range.
