Dodge has chosen to offer us the 2013 Dart bit by bit, allowing various info and photos of the car to gradually leak onto the web, but this is now all over, as the automotive producer used the Detroit Auto Show to fully reveal the car.
The Dart is scheduled to enter production in the second quarter of the current year, with the vehicle being brought to the world at Chrysler’s Belviedere Assemble Plant. The 2012 Dodge Dart can be yours for a starting price of $15,995.
The compact sedan allows buyers to choose between three engines: two naturally-aspirated units, a Tigershark 2.0-liter unit with 162 hp and a 2.4-liter MultiAir four-cylinder with 186 hp, as well as a turbocharged 1.4-liter MultiAir that delivers 162 hp.
As for the design of the Dart, this benefited from Chrysler’s bond with Alfa Romeo, receiving styling influences from the Italian brand.
“The Dodge Dart was a dream to design,” said Joe Dehner, Head of Dodge Design — Chrysler Group LLC. “The Alfa Romeo-based architecture allowed us to design an exterior with great proportions that say ‘fun-to-drive’ when you look at it. Add in the Charger-inspired ‘racetrack’ taillamps, a new, sleek crosshair grille and piano black accents, and it all adds up to a performance-inspired design with just the right amount of attitude.”
