Ever since Dodge released the Hellcats into the world, nothing was the same. The most powerful and fastest sedan in the world, the Charger, is now an icon not only in the US but also around the globe. 707 HP are nothing to joke about, but we couldn’t help but wonder what you would need to take one down on the highway.
That last word is essential because launching the Hellcat is tricky business. All that power and torque going only to the real wheel make a lot of drivers simply afraid of launching them properly. Not to mention that you need to be a pretty good driver to do it right in the first place.

Therefore, that grunt will be more than welcome on the highway, at rolling speeds of 60-70 mph (96 - 112 km/h) when some punk wants to challenge your reign. Like this M5 right here, for example.

The video below shows a rather unusual drag race. The driver of the Dodge must’ve thought that the car he was about to race was just an older E39 M5 and wanted to show him just what his 707 HP car is capable of.

In standard guise, the Bimmer used to have an S62 4.9-liter V8 under the bonnet making around 400 HP and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. Considering it was a rather heavy car at over 4,000 pounds (1,800 kg), it wasn’t extremely fast, at least compared to the Dodge.

The Hellcat has a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 707 HP and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque that allows it to reach a top speed of 204 mph (328 km/h), numbers way higher that what the old BMW was good for, even back in the day.

What the muscle car owner didn’t know was that this E39 had an engine swap done, replacing the old V8 with an inline 6-cylinder plant. Surprising, right? Well, the S52 3.2-liter plant taken from an E36 M3 was bolted under the bonnet of the 5er along with a turbo setup that probably took the output of the mill close to 700 HP as well. The result? Well, you can watch it in the video below.
