When you've got a 200-mph (322-kph) NASCAR record on your resume, you don't need an extra reason to be popular, which is why we won't zoom in on the multiple aspects that bring the 1970 Dodge Charger Daytona so much attention these days. The latest example of the aero car grabbing attention on the Internet comes from the rendering we have here.
This effort makes for what can easily be labeled under heresy, whether we're talking about the styling additions or the tech changes brought to the muscle icon.

We'll start with what's under the hood, namely a V8 that works with a pair of turbos. Sure, this is a more efficient solution compared to a supercharger, but the throttle response and the soundtrack drawbacks brought by the configuration aren't easy to ignore.

And nobody's going to miss the TT heart transplant of the Dodge; not with a pair of snails protruding through the hood of the vehicle.

As far as the aesthetics are concerned, digital artist Kalim Oozeear, who is responsible for the proposal, has come up with two versions of the Daytona, which you'll find in the pair of Instagram posts at the bottom of the story.

One of these keeps the vehicle closer to its original look (minus certain bits like the side pipes and the non-pop-up headlights), while the other adds meaty overfenders; the look resulting from the addition of the latter has determined us to use the nickname in the title above.

When it comes to what's happening in the real world, we'll remind you that we recently discussed a Daytona tribute project based on a 1970 Charger. Handled by the specialists over at Detroit Speed, the contraption has been fitted with nothing less than Mopar's 1,000 horsepower Hellephant 426 crate engine, while the suspension work on the vehicle is downright amazing.
