Dodge Challenger Rallye Redline Launched

This weekend, Dodge used the Spring Festival of LXs, which took place in Irvine, California, to introduce the 2012 Challenger Rallye Redline edition. The vehicle uses the 2012 Challenger SXT Plus equipment level as a starting point, so we get the 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar engine, but comes with upgrades for the suspension, steering, brakes, interior and exterior areas.

The powerplant delivers the same 305 horsepower at 6,350 rpm and peak torque of 268 lb.-ft. (363Nm) of torque at 4,800 rpm, but the five-speed auto now uses a 3.06:1 rear axle ratio instead of the original 2.65:1.

The vehicle uses the Super Sport Group pack, which means that its suspension is 42 percent stiffer shocks up front (22 percent for the rear), as well as a heftier 1.18-inch (30 mm) front and a 0.78-inch (20 mm) sway bar. The brakes are now larger, measuring 345x28 mm at the front and 320x22mm at the rear, while the steering promises to offer a 25 percent quicker response, with the on-center feeling now being heavier by 20 percent.

The list of exterior and interior mods includes goodies such as 20-inch Pitch Black alloy wheels with 245/45R20 Firestone Firehawk tires, a boot lid spoiler, a leather steering wheels with zinc paddle shifters, a Mopar gear shift lever, as well as an optional Radar Red seat finish (this is a first). The 2012 Challenger Rallye Redline comes with a price of $28,745 (this doesn’t include the $925 destination fee) and is set to arrive in showroom in April.
