In theory, when a Dodge Challenger Hellcat and a Chevrolet Corvette line up next to each other at the drag strip, the show is guaranteed. However, the real-life results of such an adventure can sometimes be disappointing.
As the piece of footage at the bottom of the page demonstrates, getting close to the ideal quarter-mile times doesn't always come easy. As far as we know, the factory-blown Dodge and the C6-generation Corvette we have here come in factory stock form.

This should see the Hellcat completing the 1,320-feet sprint in 11.2 seconds, while a C6 in factory stock shape should cover the task in the low-12s arena.

Unfortunately, the two machines we can see battling here don't even come near the times mentioned above. We can see both vehicles struggling to find grip, with the Hellcat obviously having the greatest issues in this department.

There are two main causes that could sit behind such issues. The first has to do with how the surface of the drag strip was prepped, but we don't have any details on the particular conditions that saw the two racing. For the record, the sprinting brawl took place at the Racewaypark in New Jersey.

Then there's obviously the question of how the drivers handled the take-off phase and we have our doubts when it comes to their skill or at least the level of focus shown in this race.

This episode comes to confirm that you shouldn't expect the advertised performance, not even when talking about a freshly-released machine like the Hellcat, without doing your homework.

Speaking of which, a 2016 Ford Focus RS with a keen driver might've just beaten the 'Vette we have here - keep in mind that we're talking about a 350 hp compact, albeit one that packs an all-wheel-drive ace up its sleeve.
