Dodge Challenger Hellcat Takes Europe by Storm, Hits 189 MPH at British Event

Thankfully, one of the Hellcats that has already been set free onto Euro roads is helping popularise the badge. The vehicle has attended a recent high-octane British event called Vmax 200, where it has impressed many supercar drivers with its performance.

Aside from the usual burnouts and the aural assault brought by the supercharged 6.2-liter mill, the machine also stretched its legs on the two-mile runway of the Bur aerodrome that hosted the event.

The Challenger Hellcat pulled four runs at the event, with one of them resulting in a velocity of 189 mph (305 km/h). Sure, that’ still below the 707 hp machine’s official top speed, but it was impressive enough to make people notice the muscle car.

This was an event that welcomed an unimaginable amount of horsepower, so the Hellcat somehow felt at home, despite being driven on British tarmac.

Grabbing the attention of the other drivers at the event was no small feat. For one thing, this is the same automotive gathering that brought us extreme races such as the battle between the Koenigsegg One:1 and the Audi R8 GT Spyder we showed you earlier this week.

As for why the Hellcat pair doesn’t enjoy the same popularity in Europe as it does back home, there are tons of reasons. For instance, somebody who wants one of these will have to turn to the grey market, as Fiat Chrysler has decided not to officially import these, at least for now.

Then there’s the price. Forget the $59,995 advertised in the US, European have to pay EUR86,000 for a Challenger Hellcat. While that’s Porsche 911 money, you still get the same hp as a Lamborghini Aventador, so the bang-for-buck factor is present.
