The Dodge Challenger Demon might be capable of completing the quarter-mile in 9.65 seconds, but owners still need time to achieve such a number. In fact, the 840-pony Mopar machine has been a ten-second car until recently. Nevertheless, all this has changed over the weekend, with the owner of a Dodge halo car managing to bring the machine into the 9s arena.
The 1,320 feet stunt took place on January 27th, with the Demon completing the stunt in 9.94 seconds at 136 mph.

It's worth mentioning that the car was launched without using the transbrake - this racecar-borrowed feature allows the Demon to sent its torque to the wheels in less than the time it takes to blink.

As for the pre-race burnout, we can assure you that the rear tires were brought up to temperature - the run also provided a delicious soundtrack, with the blower whine dominating the decibel show.

Nevertheless, given the lack of the said stunt, along with the uber-young age of the Demon, we still have some waiting to do until we get to see owners matching the official 1/4-mile number of the muscle car.

We're keeping an eye out for Dodge Challenger SRT Demons doing their thing at the drag strip and we'll bring you a sharper run as soon as we get our keyboard on it.

Now, you might want to get a reminder on the transbrake and torque reserve features of the Demon, which are firsts for a production car.

Well, the second piece of footage below (the video on the right), which comes from Engineering Explained, delivers a brief explanation of how these tech goodies work. Jason, the YouTuber behind the channel, disects the hardware for you in a little over six minutes, so even those who are in a hurry can receive the info.
