The Dodge Brothers have been watching us from automotive heaven for over nine decades now, but the latest ad of the company brings John and Horace back. The two return in grand fashion, as they go head to head in a car chase that lasts... one century.
John and Horace Dodge start racing each other in the cars they used to build. Subsequently, they jump inside four-wheeled creatures Dodge created after they passed away. And boy oh boy did Dodge make some awesome metal under Chrysler ownership.

We’ve got all sorts of goodies here, from the understated ’56 Hemi Dodge to the praised 1069 Super Bee. By the way, the latter has a bit of a story to tell. You see, this is actually a 1969 Coronet 500 that was transformed into a Super Bee, being gifted with a 440 V8, an automatic tranny and covered in a custom ’70/’71 Plum Crazy hue. One of the very few Coronet clues remaining is the rear panel.

As for the contemporary artillery, the Viper’s Hellcat-splitting move did the trick for us. As Dodge has already accustomed us, their commercials make for excellent quality time behind the screen.

A bit of history

The Dodge brothers were just as connected to the motoring world as they were to each other. These two grew up together, built the company together and even died together... after attending the 1920 New York Auto Show.

When their wives, who had inherited the business, decided to sell the company, one year before Chrysler took over, the transaction was the largest of its kind.

These were not wealthy people, but built their company based on passion and hard work. In fact, in their time and many decades after that, Dodge din not build performance cars, but practical vehicles. And when you think it all started with a dispute between the Dodge brothers and Henry Ford...
