Detroit has been bad at making affordable, reliable, and fun sedans, particularly if they didn't come with a V8 engine. The Dodge Charger is one of the few survivors, but maybe it can get a few siblings with the whole Stellantis thing going on.
It's not yet clear how this union of gigantic proportions is going to work out. Nevertheless, it's fun to imagine smaller Dodge cars returning to compete against popular models from Honda or Toyota. If we remember correctly, the first Avenger had Japanese blood, as it was a coupe made on the platform of the Mitsubishi Galant.

The Avenger sedan began its life at the 2006 Paris Motor Show, where Dodge announced it with a concept car. The production model was powered by something called a "World Engine." No, not the one General Zod uses to turn Earth into Krypton, but a 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated unit shared with Daimler-Chrysler, Mitsubishi, and Hyundai.

This rendering by wb.artist20 attempts to bring the Dodge Avenger to your attention. It's an attempt to both make it a member of the Hellcat family and modernize it into a car that looks like a 2021 Charger. Interestingly, this is done not with a fancy new platform but using the bones of a car that's been gone since 2014. We all know how Chrysler's brands like to squeeze out every penny from old tech!

To make it into a mini Hellcat, the artist changed the Avenger's face, updating the grille and installing headlights with a U-shaped LED halo. The profile received chunky fenders like the Charger widebody, a crease stamped into the doors, and some sporty wheels.

As you can probably tell, the Avenger likes to rely on foreign technology. But that doesn't mean it's making a comeback, particularly as a Hellcat model. French carmaker Peugeot's expertise is in EVs and improving quality control, not muscle sedans.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
