With the current lockdown winding down and the entire world trying to defrost the global economy we are not surprised Christian von Koenigsegg has taken up himself the duty of reminding us that Koenigsegg recently introduced its first-ever three-cylinder hypercar.
Of course, the Gemera also features four individual seats, another three electric motors hidden somewhere beneath the spectacular design and a total of 1700 hp to make sure no one accuses the Swedes of slacking down.
The advent of a possible carpocalypse was signaled by Koenigsegg back in March this year when instead of a fully-fledged Geneva Motor Show presentation we got an online event for the introduction of the Jesko Absolut and Gemera.
A four-seat Koenigsegg, screamed in disarray fans of the two-seat manufacturer of world record exotic supercars. A three-cylinder profanity from Ängelholm, howled lovers of 1,600 hp twin-turbo V8 power. Yes, it is positively outrageous. And, superbly fast, there are no two words about it.
This is because Christian von Koenigsegg knows adaptation is key to survival. Readjustment done the Koenigsegg way, with a turbocharged three-cylinder devoid of camshafts and a plug-in hybrid powertrain equipped with enough electric motors to make sure no one manages to breathe normally under nominal acceleration.
Also, this is a Koenigsegg for an entire family. Or for a group of tall friends, for that matter. Or both, according to the company’s founder and CEO. He explained all that quite meticulously by showing off Gemera’s customized four-piece luggage set inscribed with the names Sebastian, Samuel, Christian and Halldora (aka the von Koenigsegg fast family).
And that is not all, because the Gemera was also submitted to an odd test – four guys ranging between six feet five and six feet seven were given the chance to insert their tall postures inside the hypercar to prove its available cockpit space. Judging by the nimble juggling with the entry space we can safely assume they had the chance to practice for some time in advance...
