DMACK Makes WRC Debut with Martin Prokop

It has been confirmed that Chinese tire maker DMACK will make its official debut in the World Rally Championship in 2011 from as early as Rally Sweden. The “lucky” car will be the Ford Fiesta S2000 driven by former Junior World Rally champion Martin Prokop, as announced by the company this past weekend.

The Chinese firm has stated a while back that it wants to participate in the 2011 WRC season as a tire supplier to customer teams, given the International Automobile Federation's (FIA) willingness to allow multiple tire makers to register for a WRC supply this year.

After fully testing its entire range of tires, courtesy of British Rally Champion Mark Higgins, DMACK will debut in the 2011 WRC with their DMG-ICE compound setup for the snowy roads of Sweden. According to DMACK, the DMG-ICE tire which is equipped with 382 metal studs, protruding 6.5mm, to bite into the frozen ice and snow which dominates the route – providing impressive levels of grip on the frozen surfaces.

The WRC, as a series, is the ideal global platform for us to showcase the brand and next week will see the culmination of many months of hard work,” said DMACK motorsport director Dick Cormack when announcing the news.

It will be fantastic to see a DMACK tire on the start line of the opening world rally championship event. We are looking forward to the rally and are happy with how the testing and development programme has progressed.”

Since gaining authorization from the FIA to supply tires in the championship alongside Michelin, we've achieved a lot and worked hard to develop what we believe is a product which suits our customers. We are confident our DMG-ICE tire can perform well in terms of stud retention which is a key factor in this rally.
