It’s not every day that you get to hear famous people admitting they’re just big hypocrites. So if it’s not for the Caterham Drifting experience, then you should watch this video for the rare chance to see a celebrity being honest on camera.
Elliot John Gleave by his real name is best known by his stage name Example. He’s a 33-year-old British singer currently signed to Epic Records and Sony Music. He’s performing everything from hip hop, electronic, dubstep and house music. Nevertheless, this time around, we’re not discussing showbiz, even though we have to admit the video below is quite entertaining.

As you may have observed, we’re looking at a drifting lesson, which involves some proper rubber burning with all the professionals on board. Believe it or not, Example is a petrolhead himself, a story that started way back in childhood when he’d go on car trunk sales with his mother. “They had two posters framed, one was a (Ferrari) Testarossa and the other a (Porsche) 911,” he says.

Well, we can tell you this much: the British artist has good taste in cars, and it's a growing sense since he was still an 8-year-old boy, apparently. The thing is, he bought those posters and built a real obsession for the sportscars and their designs. Growing old enough to drive a sports car still didn’t mean he could afford to buy one, something he still can’t today. The difference nowadays is that he can ask other people for a special ride.

Example’s visit at Silverstone is just that, a favor people did him because he’s famous. It’s a win-win situation: Elliot drives, and drifts, and the show gets the specific celebrity factor. To make things interesting, they used a Caterham 7 personalized for the occasion. It’s a front-engine, rear-wheel drive vehicle that develops 140 bhp. It’s got a limited slip diff at the back and a close ratio gearbox. In just a couple of words: it’s ideal for drifting.
