An almost entirely DIY project, Gary's Suzuki GSX400 cafe-racer is a great proof showing that passion and documented skills, mixed with a little bit of help from a friend can transform a beat up motorcycle into a head turner.
This might not be exactly the definition of a racer, but the engine can really pack some punch, making a great ride for a fresh motorcyclist. The power and feel have been enhanced with the addition of the free-flowing conical air filters and upgraded conical mufflers with wrapped pipes, while ditching all the unnecessary parts also shaved off some weight.
Gary also went on to change the wheels and brought in 17" laced units, with a 600 XLR hub into a Super Tenere rim for the rear and a small-displacement supemotard front, and Battlax BT45 now shoe the Suzuki. The rearsets have been upgraded, just like the front brake, which received a nifty wave rotor.
The paint and seat were trusted to professionals and the result was absolutely stunning. For an amateur DIY bike project, this GSX400 looks like reference work. Via UPDLT.
