Here's a nifty and useful DIY kit for those riding in inclement and especially cold weather: the Sargent Cycles' Seat Heater Kit. This is only half-DIY, as riders don't have to manufacture any part of their own: however, minimal skills are required in order to have this gadget installed properly on your bike.
The first nice thing about the Seat Heater Kit is that it's made in such a way that installing in wrongly is almost impossible: color-coded wires, one-way connectors and all the prerequisites are supplied for a quick and trouble-free installation.

Customers get the Fine Wire heating element, all the necessary wiring, relay, control unit and in-line fuse, all ready to be installed. Installing the Seat Heater Kit correctly leaves virtually no detectable changes to the bike, while the 10-segment control module is waterproof and will withstand all the weather abuse nature can throw at it.

The Sargent Seat Heater Kit draws 2 A from your bike's electrical system and will shut down by itself when the bike stops. Judging the price is only up to how much does every rides value his or her warm behind during a ride at 5 degrees above zero: $179.95 (€135). And if you buy it, this installation guide will be useful (pdf).
