Discovery Channel’s Cash Cab Host Ben Bailey Buys Tesla Model S

Tesla Models S is definitely what you’d call the celebrity-car, as more and more famous people opt for the EV ride. Stand-up comedian and actor Ben Bailey is one of the drivers to recently join the proud Tesla Model S driver's club. The Emmy Award winning former game show host and executive producer for Discovery Channel’s Cash Cab in New York City recently announced his fans on Twitter about his purchase.

Considering he spent years driving on the busy streets of the big city, we’re pretty sure Bailey knows one thing or two about cars.

Besides giving people money for the right answer as a host of Cash Cab, he also made an appearance on the new Shovio.com’s TalkBackTV. Bailey narrates the Discovery Channel’s series Smash Lab and also hosted Who’s Still Standing? on NBC.

Nominated six times for the Daytime Emmy award for “Outstanding Game Show Host” and winning it three times, the 43-year old comedian could definitely make for a good example of people who “started from the bottom, now we’re here”.


Started of as a bouncer


Even though he attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, before moving to Los Angeles in 1993, he started of as a bouncer. In fact, he was offered a job as a bodyguard for a comedy club after bumming a cigarette from a man in a parking lot. According to Bailey, he was telling stories with some comedians after hours when Lil Farrington found his stories humorous and offered him an opportunity at stand-up.

As to the car, Tesla Model S might not be the car of a petrol head’s dreams, but it’s good to know electric vehicles are becoming more popular by the day. You know, considering the environmental issues and all that...
