Disappointment Continues For AMG After Oschersleben Qualification

After the first race of the 2014 DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meistershaft) season saw all the Mercedes-AMG drivers struggle with performance, it seems that the second race at Oschersleben isn't going to be much better either.

During the qualification which took place earlier today, the only Mercedes-AMG driver to qualify in the top ten was Mercedes Junior Pascal Wehrlein (gooix Mercedes-AMG C-Coupe), whose time of 1:20.668 minutes gave him tenth position for the start of the race tomorrow.

Pascal Wehrlein: “A tough qualifying, but given the circumstances, I’m satisfied with tenth position on the grid as best-placed Mercedes-Benz driver. After all, I was able to improve by five places compared to the first qualifying session of the season at Hockenheim. Now we have to analyse the data and continue to work hard. It was obvious that we wouldn’t be able to completely turn around the situation in less than two weeks since the last race. There’s still a long way to go. Anything can happen, as always, if it rains tomorrow. Should it remain dry, I will still do everything I possibly can, but then things will be more difficult for us.”

All the other Mercedes-AMG drivers weren't even in the top 15, with Christian Vietoris to start from 17th position, Gary Paffett from 18th place, while Robert Wickens, Paul Di Resta, Daniel Juncadella and Vitaly Petrov will complete the starting lineup from positions 20 to 23, respectively.

Audi driver Miguel Molina will start from pole position tomorrow, with his spot only being in jeopardy from the Mercedes-AMG drivers if it rains at Oschersleben. If not, we should see yet another BMW and Audi podium.

Later edit: Mercedes-AMG's Christian Vietoris has won the race at Oschersleben.
