America is reeling because Popeyes has run out of their newly-introduced chicken sandwich and no, this is not a joke. Yet Diplo got a special delivery via a Popeyes jet.
The musician, real name Thomas Wesley Pentz Jr., is now in the Nevada desert for Burning Man, but he took some time out of his busy schedule to brag about the latest present he’s been sent. Celebrities are often handed freebies and regular people don’t really mind, but this is bound to be different.

Popeyes introduced the chicken sandwich last month and it launched mass hysteria, a frenzy of memes and all-out war with Chick-Fil-a, which, of course, has been selling a version of the same sandwich for quite some time. About 2 weeks after the introduction, the Popeyes sandwich had run out and the fast food chain said they were working hard to make sure they’d restock quickly.

And here’s Diplo, boasting about his star privilege, with what looks like a couple of bags packed with Popeyes hit product. “Popeye’s heard I wanted to try their sandwich so they sent me some in a jet.... Wendy’s your move,” Diplo says in the caption to the pic he posted to his Instagram.

Of course, this is a smart instance of social media advertising. Burning Man is a huge festival with plenty of coverage and, whether you’re into his music or not, Diplo is one of the world’s most appreciated DJs and music producers. Partnering up with him is a solid move, though not necessarily needed considering Popeyes already gets more publicity than it could want for their chicken sandwich.

That said, sending a private jet with a couple of bags of junk food is wasteful and, if you listen to climate activists, shameful. Prince Harry recently got dragged – including by Americans – for flying private with his wife and relatively newborn son Archie, because of the amount of greenhouse emissions these flights generate.

We don’t hear anyone complaining about Popeyes’ excessive gesture, meant to get them a little bit more promotion. Then again, you don’t hear about people pulling guns on Royal Family officials because they can’t see Harry – and in Houston, Texas, some guy threatened Popeyes staff with a gun because they didn’t have any more chicken sandwiches to sell.
