If you’re in the market for a second-hand car that will eventually drive you mad, we have just the thing for you. Dinan is selling its own BMW 1M which they proudly call ‘Brutally Perfect”. Actually, it was Road & Track that called it that but it still counts.
The car, as you’d expect, doesn’t have a normal price tag. Go on eBay and look for an 1M Coupe and you’ll find that the most expensive one doesn’t go over $64,000. Which is already a pretty steep price.

However this is not a normal car either. Since it was used by Dinan as a press model, you can rest assured that it had had more than a couple of upgrades done to it that made it absolutely crazy to drive.

According to the ad, the car’s been fitted with new turbochargers that work at 14 psi of boost pressure, churning out 444 HP out of the 3-liter 6-cylinder engine under the bonnet. To make sure you get a proper kick in the back, 450 lb-ft (610 Nm) of torque are also there, from 3,300 RPM.

That’s not all though, the exhaust was also changed alongside a carbon fibre cold air intake, larger intercooler, high capacity engine oil cooler, all of them Dinan’s own creations. Oh and you can also get an Akrapovic downpipe if you want to.

For more control over the small coupe at high speeds, the suspension was changed with Dinan’s own springs and coil overs that can also be adjusted for height and camber. The front thrust arm monoballs and rear suspension toe links were also changed while a Dinan 3-way adjustable tubular front anti-roll bar was included in the mix, to reduce unsprung weight and body roll control.

The odometer apparently reads 13,000 miles (21,000 km) so can say this is pretty much an intact car. Furthermore, being created and used by Dinan, you can be sure that it’s absolutely flawless from a technical point of view.

So, is it worth $79,000? Well.... It depends who you ask. Someone who’s taken it for a drive and really enjoys spirited driving will surely want it, no matter it has a $15,000 premium over a ‘normal’ 1M Coupe. For others, it wouldn’t really make sense. This ad is not for those people...
