Pickup trucks making quarter mile runs are no longer a rare sight. We’ve shown you anything from mid-engined Chevys to wheel-standing trucks, but we have yet to see a diesel-powered Ram doing a 10-second quarter mile.
And we’re not talking about the brand new 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, but an older generation model back from the days when Ram wasn’t even thinking about adding an oil burner to its lineup. We have no idea on what’s under that hood, but the truck is blowing a huge amount of smoke and, as you’ll notice below, it’s no slouch (although it could use better suspension settings).
The diesel Ram manages a first quarter mile run of 11.23 seconds at 106 miles per hour (171 km/h), but the driver gets it better the second time, when the board lights up at 10.98 seconds and 118 miles per hour (190 km/h).
