Diesel Battle: Golf 7 2.0 150 HP vs Golf 6 GTD 170 HP

Here's a dilemma that we know a lot of performance diesel buyers across Europe are looking at right now. Do you buy the brand new 2013 Golf 7 2.0 TDI with 150 horsepower and good economy or the 2012 model Golf 6 with a much more respectable 170 horsepower?

The 2013 model looks very good and besides the 150 hp, it also offers 350 Nm of torque (258 lb-ft), the same as the new GTI. It gets to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 212 km/h (132 mph).

An the other hand, the GTD doesn't look half bad either, and offers the exact same torque level plus 20 more hp. Thanks to that, it only needs 8.1 seconds to reach 100 km/h and goes on to a higher top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph).

If you think that's close, just watch the two DSG-equipped cars go up against each other in the video below.
