Diamond Studded Maybach 62S Unveiled in Cannes

It was during the de GRISOGONO party at the renowned Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes last week that Maybach decided to wow attendees with the 62S saloon studded with precious-carat diamonds. The party, which had Maybach as its official main partner, took place during the Cannes Film Festival, so it was not short on stars.

The exclusive high society event, hosted by the Swiss manufacturer of luxury watches and jewelry and with guests attending by invitation only, proved to be the perfect venue for the blinged-out Maybach.

The German luxury car maker took the wraps off the diamond-studded 62S in front of 1.000 guests from the international jet set, film industry and show business. Singer Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas was among the stars that attended the event. The latter even took time to get inside the car and, as you can see in the adjacent images, enjoyed every minute of it.

But getting back to the car, the diamonds on the 62S were initially only included on the rear centre armrest. But de GRISOGONO and Maybach are currently looking at further options for individualising the interior with diamonds and other gemstones – on the steering wheel, shift lever or seats, for example.

Over the coming months, the saloon will be studded with further diamonds and gemstone creations before being presented officially at the Dubai International Motor Show between November 10-14, 2011.

Performance wise, the range-topping Maybach 62S model stays the same. The vehicle comes fitted with a 12-cylinder engine putting out a total of 630 horsepower. The average fuel economy is rated at 17.88mpg and CO2 emissions at 368g/km.
