Prior to the testing sessions last week, Force India's co-owner Vijay Mallya told the media that the two drivers would battle for a reserve/test driver role within the organization during the aforementioned Jerez meeting. Throughout the 3 days of racing against the clock, Di Resta proved far more prepared than fellow tester JR Hildebrand for the job, as he consistently scored Top 5 finishes (two runner-up spots and one 4th place).
While enthused himself with what he has accomplished during the Jerez outing – bear in mind that this is a DTM racer who has barely seen the inside of a Formula One cockpit before – Di Resta revealed that the Silverstone based outfit has left him in the dark about their plans for the 2010 campaign.
“The testing went superbly well and it is something I've been waiting for a long time. There has been no word yet and although I am hoping to hear in the near future I understand these things take time,” the British driver told his local West Lothian Courier newspaper.
Force India already announced their official lineup for the 2010 season in the persons of Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi, and are currently looking to complete their team with the reserve driver. Apart from Di Resta and Hildebrand, Indian driver Karun Chandhok is also on the list, although his only outing with the team was in their Silverstone-based simulator.
In the meantime, Di Resta is set to start his 3rd consecutive season as a works driver for Mercedes-Benz in the DTM.
