Di Grassi Eyes Second Manor F1 Seat

Manor has become the second team from the newly entrants to announce one driver for their inaugural Formula One campaign in 2010. While Timo Glock can rest assured of his F1 driver next year, the rumors regarding the second racing seat available at Manor seem to head the Lucas di Grassi way lately.

According to the former Renault test/reserve driver, his chances of joining the British outfit for the 2010 season are very good and he's currently waiting for confirmation from the team's bosses.

My chances of landing a deal with team Manor are good. They have a couple of guys they are looking at for next year, and I am one of them,” confirmed the Brazilian driver, according to a Xinhua news agency report.

Li Grassi was racing for a Renault seat in 2010 also, as the French manufacturer was and still is in need of a second driver for their 2010 campaign. However, with rumors suggesting that the Enstone based team is in fact looking for experienced drivers to partner Robert Kubica in 2010, Di Grassi quickly reassessed his options for the upcoming year.

Most of the newly entrants have confirmed a need for an experienced vs. rookie driver lineup in their debut season, which makes Manor F1 a perfect fit for Di Grassi. Campos Grand Prix already appointed rookie driver Bruno Senna for 2010, while Lotus F1 is still keeping quiet on their plans for next year. US Grand Prix Engineering will clearly look for home-grown talent in their debut season in F1.

Di Grassi finished the 2009 GP2 Series in 3rd place overall and admitted from the very beginning of last year that he aims to step into the Great Circle in 2010. He is now expecting a definitive answer from Manor by next week.
