Detroit Dream Cruise Brings Back Historical Cars

The Woodward Dream Cruise is one of the Detroit Three car manufacturers favorite events. It takes place this Saturday but includes events which start a couple of days earlier. Also, it gives domestic car manufacturers the chance to display their classic automobiles as well as their latest products. The event, which will stretch over 16 miles of the Woodward Avenue, a main Detroit artery will gather more than a million car fans across the US.

The Woodward Dream Cruise started as a fund raiser for a local field in 1995, and since then it has evolved into one of the largest one-day automotive event in the world. Furthermore the event is also one of the most competitive marketing events for car manufacturers.

"They all want to come back with some bragging rights. There's a big competition between the manufacturers,"
Gerard Schmid of Ed Schmid Ford, located along Woodward was quoted as saying by autonews.com. He explained that the dealership used to individually take part in the Dream Cruise every year until it got too expensive.

"In the early days, we were a big promoter and big fan. Once the corporations got involved it got really, really pricey. It's great for consumers because they get great Ford parts. We install them quick and reasonably, and we actually get a good amount of business on Dream Cruise days,"
Ed Schmid, as the aforementioned source cites.

Ford will exhibit its Mustang models in a display called Mustang Alley, where more than 700 classic stallions will be on display. Also, Chrysler Group will show off 20 historical models and 19 production vehicles from Fiat, Jeep, Dodge and Ram brands
