The Abu Dhabi BMW dealership just can’t stop bringing out exclusive, rare cars on their showroom floor. Just yesterday we were telling you about a beautiful BMW F80 M3 with M Performance Parts (that are really hard to source today because of the high demand). Today, we’re reporting that they just took delivery of a BMW i8 that is now on display.
The i8 is no longer shocking to look at as it has been seen everywhere online for quite some time now. What is shocking though is the fact that they got their hands on one despite the waiting list being over 6 months long according to earlier reports.

BMW repeatedly claimed that the demand for the plug-in hybrid car was overwhelming and that orders just keep pouring in, although it holds a rather prohibitive price tag above $130,000 (or €120,000 in Germany). It went so bad that officials considered ramping up the production in the Leipzig factory where it’s being made alongside the i3.

Even so, that didn’t stop Abu Dhabi from getting one today and here we are, looking at this beautiful Sophisto Grey i8 shining on the showroom floor.

If we know rich tycoons as we think we do, it won’t be long before the Bimmer will leave the premises with a happy owner behind its wheel. The sticker price doesn’t really matter anymore and we’re sure there’s going to be plenty of profit involved as well.

You might say that this car’s incredible specs don’t really appeal to owners in a country such as Abu Dhabi. The fact is that it boasts with a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine running the rear wheels and a fuel economy of 121 mpg (2.1 l/100 km) when that engine is aided by the electric motor. That impressive fuel economy figure doesn't really make a difference in a land where petrol is cheaper than water. However, the wow effect is still there and the tech imbued in the i8 will lure plenty of people.
