Dementor-Style Scarecrows Are as Awesome as It Gets

This video is not exactly new, but we loved the idea of such a scarecrow so much that we can't even begin to describe it. Well, some might ask what's with a scarecrow design on an automotive website. Can't exactly tell you, but those bicycle handlebars are probably the perfect excuse.

Of course, we loved the grim reaper - Dementor approach, as well as the simplicity of the design. The efficiency of this scarecrow is impossible to test from this short video, but we expect that birds are entirely ignorant when it comes to horror movie characters. Also, this contraption doesn't seem to make too much of a noise, so we guess that the cycling scarecrow will not be the employee of the month in that field anytime soon.

The fun thing is that even though birds might not find this scarecrow too scary, people are way more likely to feel chills and cold sweat running down their spine should they encounter it in certain conditions.

Cue a windy night, maybe some fog, the rain at twilight and other classic gothic themes and sceneries, and as long as the wind is present, you might be in for quite a lot of candid camera material.

Now, if you ask us, the bike handlebars idea was pure genius, but it can become even cooler with some small improvements. That is, a small fan and generator could be added so it produces just enough electric current to light up two small LEDs in the eyes of the Dementor when it's windy outside.

Of course, you can go pro in the cycling Dementor business and install a small solar panel on top of it, fueling a small rechargeable battery and hopefully delivering enough juice for the whole night even when the wind is not blowing. Just consider garden lights with solar panels and you are already there.

Have it installed in your yard just beside the fence after spotting a windy corner and prepare to have morbid fun. And yes, a similar, small LED inside the bike headlight would work wonders, too...
