Delectable-Looking 2002 Jeep Wrangler Sport Has Us Putting Off Our 392 Rubicon Order

It's pretty gosh darn difficult to make any road vehicle with 179,600 miles (289,038.1 km) on the odometer look like it's seen a quarter of that. But that's exactly the state this gorgeous Jeep Wrangler TJ sits in today. It's not for sale on any old auction website but the brainchild of automotive YouTuber Doug DeMuro.

On carsandbids.com, this Wrangler in Light Khaki Metallic has a list of credentials that are pretty impressive, especially if you're used to Wranglers this old being made primarily of rust by this juncture. Including an original spec sheet proving the presence of factory equipment like 15-inch alloy wheels and the Command Trac four-wheel-drive system. At the heart of the beast is the venerable four-liter, six-cylinder engine found in so many iconic Jeep products of the period. It's good for 190 horsepower and a healthy 235 pound-feet of torque (319 Nm) in TJ Wrangler models.

With most auto listing and auction websites, you'll get a brief description of the car and hopefully enough photos to satisfy. But on Cars and Bids, you get a paragraph penned by Doug DeMuro himself. "The TJ is a fantastic Wrangler that's surprisingly fun both on- and off-road," DeMuro says in his advertisement. "It's also mostly unmodified, so the next owner can enjoy it as-is or build it into an even more capable off-roader. Plus, this Wrangler is being offered with no reserve, meaning someone is taking it home at the end of the auction."

Other factory equipment includes a removable hardtop, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, air conditioning, and funky cloth upholstery. The only visible modification is a radio head unit. It's a Pioneer that likely sounds at least a little bit nicer than the standard Chrysler radio it came with. When modern options like the Wrangler Turbodiesel and the 392 Hemi, it's important to know that Jeeps making big power is a pretty novel idea.

For years prior, the name of the game was simplicity and lightweight. The TJ is the last generation of Wrangler to take this to heart. This example could be all yours if you can beat the $7,000 bid with four days left in the auction as of January 10th, 2021.
