Deadmau5 Wins Importfest’s Baddest Lamborghini Award

Ah, the aftermarket world. Colors, superchargers, custom LED lights and bumpers, a planet where there is no limit to personalizing your beloved four-wheeler. Canada may not be Miami, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have their fair share of tuning-move. Importfest is one of the country’s most recognized events in the automotive aftermarket industry, and they recently had a big gig.

Some of the big shots in the Canadian auto tuning were busy showcasing their best creations over the weekend, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, on Saturday. Aside from presenting modified cars from across Canada and the USA, there also were a couple of other events that ran the show. For instance, there was a live drift session by modified RC cars on a custom built track we’re sure was a blast, and a couple of beauty contests we’re sure were noteworthy.

Of all these, you may have heard already, but this is not the main purpose we’re talking about the event. Instead, we just heard Joel Zimmerman, whom you rather know as Deadmau5, was also one of the participants to run for the best of its kind. And it seems like the Nyan Cat Lamborghini Huracan was praised well enough to win the contest for the “Baddest Lamborghini”.

The story of the Nyan Cat Lamborghini Huracan

We’re quite certain you’ve heard this story before, but in case you haven’t we’ll take a second to introduce the Nyan Cat Ranging Bull to you. Performed by auto wrapping studio Sekanskin, the theme is quite popular among car aficionados, especially since the Canadian electronic music DJ made it famous. It all started as a funny thing when Zimmerman decided to refresh his Ferrari 458 for the Gumball 3000 rally last year.

Then, Ferrari sent a letter of desisting, demanding Joel to lose it because it was covering the badges. He did remove the wrap, but that also made him sell the car. Instead, he bought a Lamborghini Huracan he covered with the same wrap. When the car was ready, Deadmau5 even trolled Ferrari USA on Instagram.

I guess that’s just how the cookie crumbles, for some a wrap is an offense, for others it is award-worthy.
