Well, that is because you’re a regular person like me. When you’re a rich electronic music DJ, you can afford drifting and doing donuts with a McLaren P1 in the desert. But it comes with a cost.
The twin turbos boost the petrol-fed motor with 2.4-bar of swoosh to deliver 737 hp (542 kW) and 531 lb-ft (719 Nm) of torque at 7,500 rpm, combined with an in-house developed electric motor producing a further 178 hp (131 kW) and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm).
Yes, we know that you know, but we can’t help but repeating these figures. It’s that great the hybrid hypercar is, and we haven’t met one single person so far who doesn’t think the same about the car as we do.
So when you hear there’s a guy out there that has no problem in handling the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine other than with the utmost respect, our fail alarm goes on.
We have always appreciated Deadmau5’s love for powerful cars and his desire to take every one of his rides to the edge. But doing donuts with a hypercar in the dessert, really? That’s a little bit too much on our end.
In fact, it’s not just us to notice the bad doing, considering the hypercar needed some repairs after the desert deed went on, last week. Judging by Zimmerman’s tweets the P1 is currently ongoing small patches, and will be off the streets for some time.
Nice to know the DJ bought one of those DTV Shredder toys to play with until the car’s back on track.
