Deadmau5 Gets Nissan GT-R: No Nyan Cat Wrap, It’s a Lease

Some people are really serious about their promises and they get even more serious once publicity and marketing are at stake. After Deamdau5 got in some sort of conflict with Ferrari over his Purrari, Nissan offered the Canadian DJ a GT-R which they even wrapped in the Nyan Cat. Turns out, they actually send a 2-door sports coupe, as Zimmerman just posted an image of it on Instagram.

You guys might not be into electronic music, but Deadmau5 got really popular for his car-enthusiasm more recently, rather than for his mix tapes. Let us give you a heads up over this little funny story. Deadmau5, Joel Zimmerman on his real name, got famous after he covered his Ferrari 458 with a Nyan Cat wrap and race it at this year’s Gumball 3000.

Months after the rally, Ferrari sent him a cease and desist letter on the matter and the car is now back to its white original color. After the little scandal got public, it would seem somebody over Nissan heard about it, so the Japanese auto maker decided to step in and try to take advantage.

Nissan posted a picture on their official Twitter account the other day, offering the DJ a GT-R with a Nyan cat wrap. Most likely the picture was photoshopped, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t catch Deadmau5’s attention.

Well, it turns out, Nissan actually sent the DJ a GT-R, considering he just posted an image of the car. “Funtime has arrived! Thank you for the loaner Nissan” the Canadian quoted next to the picture. Even though it’s a lease and it has no Nyan Cat wrap (yet), we can expect to see some really interesting stuff going on with the ride soon enough.
