Deadmau5 Buys McLaren 650S After Selling His Purrari

If you are among the car enthusiasts that followed the Gumball 3000 rally, then you already know Deadmau5’s Team Purrari won the Spirit of Gumball in this year’s competition. Funny thing is, the Canadian decided to sell it shortly after the race was over, so finding that he just bought a brand new McLaren 650S, makes us think of competition between the two supercars and the famous companies that make them.

We wrote about Joel Thomas Zimmerman selling his Nyan Cat Ferrari 458 Italia on Autotrader, a couple of days ago. He asked $380,000 (EUR 280,000) for the blue Purarri reporting he’ll be sending all the extra money he got for the car to charity. But just a few days latter we find Deadmau5 smiling at the camera next to his brand new McLaren 650S he bought from Pfaff McLaren.

Before we even think of talking about this crazy beauty, we’ll want to talk about competition for a second. You see, the Ferrari 458 is fighting against the McLaren 12C on the auto market, while the McLaren 650S is the new improved 12C. In other words, Deadmau5 left Ferrari behind to buy a car developed by McLaren. Now, that is not something a gentleman driver would do, is it? Or maybe it is, since McLaren's British heritage makes it more gentlemanly.

As to this out-of-this-world machine, it comes with an 3.8-liter V8 that’s a little more keen to impress, offering a bump of 25 horsepower and 58 lb-ft (78 Nm) over the model it’s based on and replaces, the 12C. One more thing is naturally left to ask: will Deadmau5 wrap the 650S into another Nyan-cat or not?
