After the very unconventional unveiling of the car that is supposed to represent the De Tomaso revival last week, a proper presentation, gallery included, was released just days before the model will take the center stage at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show. Built as a Sport Luxury Sedan (SLS), the model will be bringing with it at the event all the hopes of the De Tomaso fans, wrapped by the owner of the company, Italian business man Gianmario Rossignolo, in what may very well be considered a disappointment of a vehicle. Even if the name that signs the lines of the car belongs to Pininfarina, there’s more than one element that doesn't actually fit with what the public was expecting from a De Tomaso rebirth. The most striking of all is the fact that the model is officially called a sedan, it is in fact a large crossover (until this official announcement, the model was dubbed as a Sport Luxury Crossover, but for some reason that has changed). That's exactly what fans were NOT expecting. Strange choice of words aside, the SLS, which, if we are to trust De Tomaso's promises, will be given a proper name in Geneva, is exactly the type of model the market craves for these days: a large car, powered by a powerful engine (in this case, a 550 horsepower V8 and a 300 horsepower V6). autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
