Davida is a well-known name in the British motorcycle industry, especially among those who are still faithful to the old-school style. A manufacturer of open-face helmets for around three decades, Davida now announces a new range of leather face masks for both him and her.
These leather face masks hark back to the '70s era and is designed to be worn in conjunction with the open helmets from the same period or other similar retro lids. Wearing one does indeed increase the protection in the face area, putting a layer of leather between a rider's teeth and nose and debris, insects and the like.
Likewise, these masks will also decrease the wind-in-the-teeth factor, and will, to a certain degree, offer some protection against rain, too. Obviously, they can also be worn for a tougher look.
Made from a single layer of smooth leather, the Davida face helmets also boast a very thin laminated liner for comfort and extra warmth in colder weather. The masks are made from eight individual panels that form an anatomic cover for the face and chin.
The Universal face mask uses an elastic strap behind the neck, and is not attached to the helmet. It also sports multiple perforations facilitating breathing and moisture evacuation.
Davida leather face masks are now available in black, nappa brown, white and nut brown for around $45 (€40). Needless to say, there will be people buying them for other reasons than motorcycling, if you get my point...
