Iconic football star, world-renowned sex-symbol and husbands to the equally-famous Victoria Beckham, David Beckham shows his truly wild side, that of a motorcycle adventurer and globetrotter. He is back from his Amazonian bike adventure, yet another once-in-a-lifetime trip into the unknown. His custom Bonneville will be at the Triumph Live 2014 event at Heritage Motor Center in Gaydon, UK on July 12th.
Beckham went to Brazil exploring the Amazon rainforest aboard a one-off Triumph Bonneville, shooting a BBC documentary titled “Beckham Into the Unknown”. Part Bonneville T100, part Scrambler, having dropped both the rear and the front fender, Beckham’s bike was shod with streetable knobby tires to comply with the rigors of Brazil’s off-road trails.

The bike was modified both in the UK and in Brazil, with the bespoke leather seat being made by of one Sao Paulo’s top-drawer craftsmen, with the paint job being a Brazilian job as well. The Bonnie exhausts have been ditched and replaced with the high ones of the Scrambler, but the high-performance silencer comes from Arrow. Beckham’s bike even got revised tank badges for an even more distinctive look. The off-road maneuverability was top-notch thanks to the wide Bonneville bars, helping David Beckham get through the hard sections easier.

His routes included using machetes to clear out the trail, loading the bike on a canoe and adding venerable jungle wear and tear to the Bonneville, relying on locals for finding the way and interacting with members of the tribes he encountered.

The documentary of this life-changing trip was already aired by the BBC, and will soon surface for more public performance soon. Beckham retired from the world of football and continues his 10-year-long UNICEF ambassadorship with various projects, and we might expect more bike adventures from him, as himself told Michael Palin. Yes, THAT Michael Palin of Monty Python fame...
