David Beckham could add another notch to his belt, if anything about this rumor proves accurate. Apparently, he’s currently in talks with several companies about the possibility of traveling to space.

The Sun claims that several space travel companies, including Virgin Galactic, have already reached out to the former soccer star, on the grounds that the exposure he would offer would make for the best publicity. Sources from camp Beckham claim that he is thrilled at the prospect, but also understandably nervous.

They also claim that Beckham is a fan of all things space, and the tattoo of circling planets on the side of his head would be proof of that. He’s also the kind of guy who likes to be challenged and flying to space would be the ultimate challenge, if you think about it.

“It’s something that David has talked about for quite a while. It has been mooted in the past but now space travel is becoming a more realistic prospect it could be a reality," an unnamed insider tells the British tab. “Some of David’s kids have been talking about it and think it would be pretty cool."

Apparently, one provision Beckham has is that he be allowed to toss a football while up in space. Then again, if he did end up traveling to space, not having him play football would go against the idea of using the partnership with him for publicity.

“There aren’t many things he hasn’t done but this would be on another level – although he has admitted privately he’s very nervous about it,” the insider continues. “It’s never been done and would get them noticed.”

On a side note, this is The Sun reporting. Take it with a grain of salt, but remember they did happen to be right on a few occasions, with the most recent being when they said Tom Cruise was really learning to fly fighter jets for the upcoming “Top Gun: Maverick” movie.
