Datsun, Nissan's brand for emerging markets, unveiled a new concept car at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo.
The exhibit is called Datsun Go-Cross and is a crossover that shows the brand's vision for an upcoming model family. Datsun describes its concept as a potential direction for the future of the Go/Go+ family expansion.

The future models that will be inspired by this car will be sold in high-growth markets. The Japanese brand wants to provide its customers with cars that have a sense of style, adventure, and fun.

Datsun brand officials feel the need to underline the fact that the Go-Cross is just a concept car at the moment, but they are thinking of a new generation of drivers that will appreciate this design and the future production models that will feature it.

The next generation of Datsun owners is ambitious and young, so Datsun is probably considering to bring affordable models for fun-loving people ready to buy their first car.

The Datsun brand is over a century old, having been founded in Japan in 1914. Initially, it was called DAT-GO, and the name bared the initials of the family names of the three financiers who supported the business.

The company promoted itself as Durable, Attractive, and Trustworthy. The business was taken over in 1933 by Nissan's founder, Yoshisuke Aikawa, who turned Datsun into something different, following his vision of “mobility for all.”

Even then, the predecessor of today's Datsun brand was destined for a young audience. The name Datsun comes from denominating the brand Son of DAT. Cool story, right?

Along with the new concept, Datsun also had two personalized versions of the GO and GO+ models, which were fitted with accessories for demanding customers.

There's no word on whether these accessories will make it to Datsun dealers in the future, but it shows that the brand is thinking about this possibility as well.
