Just like the legend of the Phoenix, Nissan’s Datsun brand has emerged from its ashes and will be available for Russian drivers in April 2014.

The vehicle that will make its way on the Russian market sometime between August and September is the Datsun Go and it’s a pretty interesting hatchback.

The guys from Nissan are quite confident that the new car will be well received even if the economic growth is slowing and new car sales are expected to drop. So, although they might be experiencing a few bumps along the way, the growing middles class will most likely be interested in the Datsun Go.

The vehicle is expected to compete against Avtovaz’s Lada even if it targets first-time buyers, a range of customers different from that of the Lada. Nissan is counting on the fact that the Datsun car is an affordable vehicle that will be “a serious alternative to the used car market.” Jerome Saigot, director of Datsun in Russia.

If by any chance you’re interested in the Go, know that Russia won’t be the only automobile market that will have it. The company also targets other markets such as Indonesia, India and even South Africa.
